President Trump Says US-Iran War Will Likely End Immediately After November Midterms
President Trump is asserting that the U.S.-Iran war will end immediately after the November 2026 midterm elections.
The assertion came during remarks delivered on September 9th, 2026, while the president was boarding Air Force One, reports Anadolu Agency.
“I think the war will end immediately after the election because they can’t hold out any longer.”
Trump says Tehran is “desperate to try and affect the election,” while saying the US is not currently seeking to resume nuclear negotiations with Iran.
“We’re not looking for it. Yes, a negotiation could possibly happen, but it’s not something we’re looking at.”
The president suggests that any future agreement would extend beyond Iran’s nuclear program, saying his administration is pursuing “much more than a nuclear deal.”
“There is a lot more than nuclear… We’re going to have nuclear, that’s 99.9, but there is gonna be a lot of other things on the table.”
Trump also says that recent US strikes in the Strait of Hormuz had incapacitated nine Iranian tankers.
“You’re going to see a lot more. We’ve taken out about nine of their tankers.”
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismisses reports that another country is providing Iran with assistance that could change the course of the conflict.
“These are anonymous people. They make stuff up all the time… We don’t believe anybody’s giving Iran anything that’s changing the dynamics or the parameters of what we’re seeing.”
Rubio also warns that Iran would continue facing consequences for attacks on US naval vessels, saying the US was responding by targeting Iranian tankers.
“At the end of the day, they continue to fire at our naval ships, and when they fire at our naval ships, they pay a price in tankers. They lose a lot of tankers… They lost five more last night. Four were damaged. One was sunk. So they’ll continue to pay a price for that.”
The secretary also says Washington would continue applying economic pressure against Tehran.
“In the meantime, we’re going to continue to strangle them economically.”
