Hundreds of thousands of people may be affected after a healthcare firm disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving personal information.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Innovative Scientific Solutions has discovered a hacking incident affecting 143,842 individuals, with the breach involving a network server.
The company says it learned last September that certain systems within its network environment had been affected by a cybersecurity incident. The company says it launched an investigation with third-party cybersecurity professionals to determine whether personal information had been accessed or acquired.
Following a forensic investigation, the company determined in March that files potentially accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party contained personal information. Notices to affected individuals began going out on April 7, 2026.
In a separate press release, Murphy Law Firm says the potentially exposed information may include names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, credit and debit card information, medical treatment information and health insurance information. Innovative Scientific Solutions says it has no indication that fraud has resulted from the incident.
The firm says individuals whose Social Security numbers were included in the impacted files have been offered complimentary credit monitoring. The company says it is continuing to evaluate and modify its cybersecurity practices following the incident.
